The Changing Face of Jacarepagua (Rio de Janeiro) Interlagos is the home of Formula One in Brazil nowadays, but from 1978 to 1989, Rio de Janeiro’s Jacarepaguá circuit played host, a venue which from 1996-2000 also hosted CART. Unfortunately, part of the circuit was demolished in 2005 to make way for a new stadium that would feature in the 2007 Pan American Games. These photos below show the construction of the stadium. Team USA took fourth place at the 2007 International Chiba Ekiden on Friday in Chiba, Japan, finishing in 2:09:05. The host team from Japan won the event in 2:05:56, defeating defending champion Kenya by 1:10. Russia was third in 2:08:00.
